Hey guys!

Thought I’d do a post just to update you all on my pregnancy so far! I’m currently 32 weeks...I know I say this every time but time really is going so fast! I cant believe that any time within the next 2 months we will be meeting our little boy!

The last few weeks have definitely been harder and I’ve found myself being a lot more fatigued. I forget what my body is actually doing sometimes and have to remind myself I’m not capable of doing some of the things I used to. Even simple things such as fastening my shoe laces or walking up the stairs are a lot more effort these days.

I still however feel very lucky that I haven’t experienced extreme symptoms *touch wood*. The pain (if that’s what you can call it) is still only around a 4 out of 10 i’d say...very bareable and I feel for anyone who’s having a bad time at this stage. Over the last couple of weeks I have been getting period cramp pains but that are a lot more intense than usual. They have been very uncomfortable and only happen every now and again, I’m assuming these are Braxton Hicks? And at my last midwife appointment (31weeks I mentioned them and how his movements had changed). I know they always say that reduced movements should be reported straight away however, it was just different, not necessarily reduced significantly. To be safe my midwife sent me to the day unit to get assessed and wow, that was an experience. As soon as I got hooked up to the monitor, little man wouldn’t stay still. So much so all the midwives were telling me how he was ‘having a party’. I was there around 2 hours because after moving about so much, he decided to go to sleep....so after giving me 3 bottles of ice cold water and some chocolates, they managed to get a good reading from him and confirmed everything was fine.

Obviously I was so relived but the midwives all stressed that if I ever felt like he had changed his patterns or gone quiet to get in touch and get assessed. They were all so lovely and made me feel reassured but also made me realise how important it is to keep monitoring his movements at this point. They put it down to me going back to work and my routine changing and therefore, his routine changing too. So I’m making a conscious effort to zone into him every morning, afternoon & evening to feel his kicks and talk to him!

Talking about work, I have gone back part time (due to Covid-19) so I am currently working Wed- Fri and reduced hours. Initially I thought it would be great for me as it gives me structure and routine in my week however, I have found it very hard and draining. Again, I forget that most of my pregnancy has been throughout lockdown so I haven’t been doing much and have been able to relax and get used to my body changing in a relaxed way. Going back to work has just confirmed how tiring and both mentally & physically draining it can be on pregnant people. And I’m not even that big yet! I haven’t got a date in place for when I want to go on maternity so I am just going to see how I get on in the next few weeks.

Sleeping recently has been so hard. I’ve woke up in all sorts of pain from sleeping awkwardly because I just can’t get comfy! Sleeping on my side is the only way I can lay and I change sides a million times during the night. The only things helping me are these two products! They help me get to sleep and relax me but unfortunately, don’t help me to sleep throughout anymore! The only positive is that I don’t wake up much for the toilet anymore!

I started reading the Hypnobirthing Book by the Positive Birthing Company and honestly, if you’re expecting soon you NEED to read this book before birth! It has helped with my mindset so much. I’ve been reading it and making notes. I’m just over half way through but didn’t want to finish it too early so im going to start reading it again soon so it’s all fresh in my mind! I’m also going to give Zac certain chapters to read so he knows how he can help during labour. It’s nothing fancy, nothing to do with hypnotising - literally just explaining what happens during labour and how our bodies are designed to do this. It tells you what you need to do in order to help your body do it’s job and gives you the tool kit to use to keep you calm and positive throughout. I HIGHLY recommend this book, please don’t think it’s a load of rubbish!!

My appetite has gone crazy recently. All I want is Chinese, Pizza & my sweet tooth has come out of nowhere. I seem to want small meals often and find myself either eating loads for a meal or hardly nothing. I fluctuate every day! I also get hungry every night at around 10pm...that’s when little man is his most active I’d say.

In terms of preperarion, we pretty much have everything. There’s a few feeding items we need but I am waiting till he’s here and I know if I’m breastfeeding or not. (Talking of breastfeeding, i did a free online course which explained this thoroughly and really helped - I did it with FAB training but I’m sure there’s more out there!). We also haven’t got a play gym/mat or a high chair but again, these aren’t things we need straight away so can be bought once he’s here.

I have also started preparing to pack my hospital bags! I’m pretty much sorted for both my own and baby’s..let me know if you’d like a post dedicated to them!

Bump Update!

That’s about it for now. I am due my 34 Week App with the midwife on the 28th and last time I got checked everything was measuring as normal so will hopefully be still on track!

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more posts 🤍

Until next time,

Chloe xx
