Hey Everyone! Today I am going to attempt to do a Fashion blog post! Something completely different for my blog but something I have always been interested in.
When I was younger, styling outfits and planning outfits for me and my friends was something I loved. Looking back I was such a fashionista, I'm jealous of myself for having that fashion sense when I was 16. I feel like as I got older, work attire became more formal and I started to really loose my interest in fashion, I found myself just wearing the same outfit over and over and would crave for winter so i could wear hoodies and jeans all the time.
Back in January, I started looking at Pinterest for Maternity outfit inspiration and it made me so excited to get my bump! I remember wishing for the day I actually looked pregnant as at first i felt like no one could really tell. So when my bump started to get more prominent and more round, I started dressing to show it off and I feel like I have found my fashion sense again.
Pinterest has been a massive help and I follow so many amazingly gorgeous Mum's to be on Instagram so for the last few months I have been taking inspiration and shopping around for the best deals, as if you know me well, I'm a bargain hunter! Depop is my best friend.
Summer Dresses
Over the last few months we have had some lovely weather in the UK which has been great as it came around the time I started to grow out of my jeans and therefore could wear dresses! I dont have any maternity dresses, all of the below are either ones I had in my wardrobe from previous summers or one's I've bought from Depop which are just a few sizes bigger than my normal size! The hat that you can see in my photos is from Home Bargains! Was only £2.99 and my necklaces are from ASOS!
High Waisted Bottoms
Before pregnancy, i only wore high waisted jeans or bottoms. I dont think I own anything else! So I was panicking when i realised i couldn't wear high waisted jeans anymore. However, after pulling my normal size leggings over my bump (which by the way worked up until around 22 weeks), I decided to invest in some maternity leggings and trousers. The leggings are from the Maternity petite range at ASOS and i got them in a size 8 which is my normal size. They fit lovely and are so comfy! The grey bottoms are from depop but initially from Boohoo I believe!
Maternity Jeans
After investing in the leggings, that is all I wore. I wasn't planning on buying any maternity jeans however, I was getting sick of wearing the same things over and ASOS had a big sale on so I thought I'd treat myself to some Mamalicious Maternity Jeans and I am so happy I did! They are SO comfy and so soft. They have a belly band that goes over the bump and again I bought them in a size 8. The leg isn't super skinny but they're not baggy and around my hips there is plenty of room for me to grow, which I imagine in the next few weeks I will a lot. The belly band is super stretchy so I know will continue to fit throughout the rest of my pregnancy but i will also use the post-patrum as I can imagine they will be comfy for then too whilst transitioning into normal clothes!
Skirts
Another trend I have been loving is Maxi Skirts and crop tops! I think it is so flattering and with the material being so stretchy its so comfy on the bump! Perfect for those of you like me who only really own crop tops!
Below are a few other outfits I have put together over the last few weeks! The cream leggings are from the Maternity Section on ASOS however they don't come over my bump so I was a little annoyed with that. As they look like they are designed to go over your bump as there is excess material on the crotch area, but its just not stretchy or long enough to cover the bump. But they're still really comfortable, I just can't wear them high waisted.
In terms of fashion inspiration, I look at people such as Katie Hayes, Liv Guy, Naomi Genes and Milena Ciciotti on Instagram and YouTube. I love neutral colours and don't like anything too bright with a slight boho vibe!
I am currently 30 Weeks which means I still have 10 weeks of growing left to do so I suppose I will soon be figuring out what's comfortable for me as my bump gets even bigger. To keep up to date and see more outfits, make sure you're following me on Instagram @cletherington
