High End Make Up Worth the Hype

Hey Everyone,
Thought I'd do something different and talk about some products that over the years, I have come to realise ARE worth the money. These days, a lot of Make Up products get spoken about on You Tube or Instagram and its hard to believe whether they are actually good or not. These select few are items I have considered buying time and time again but resisted because of the price. I've waited till they were on offer or had been given money for my birthday/Christmas to buy these as I'm someone who hates spending money on over priced items.
So if you are unsure on whether a product is worth the hype, maybe my little reviews can help!
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
I'll be honest, before I bought this product, I hardly wore powder. In fact, still now, unless I'm going somewhere special, I dont use it. However, when I do, I can tell the difference using this product. I decided to use some Birthday money last year to treat myself as it was something a lot of people swore by, said how amazing it made their skin look and how they would never look back. I made sure I got it whilst there was an offer on (I got mine from Look Fantastic when they were offering money off if you spent over a certain amount) as normally it's around £32 for the full size. The people were right, it was like nothing I had used before and it made my skin look flawless. If I am wanting a full coverage look to last all day and night, this product does the job. It doesn't make you look cakey, it just sets nicely and brightens your complexion at the same time. You only need a small amount so it will last a very long time however they do travel sizes for around £20 which will also probably last a long time too! I'm sure this tub will last me a while longer but it's something I will re-purchase time and time again as there's nothing else like it!
By Terry CC Serum - Sunny Flash
If you watch Lydia Millen on You Tube you will know how much she raves about this product. A couple of years ago I bought her first collab box with Cult Beauty and it included the By Terry CC Serum so I was super excited to try it. She used the shade Sunny Flash but it was a very dark/tan shade so I opted for the Apricot version as I am a lot fairer skinned then Lydia. However, I just didn't understand why she loved it so much. I took it on holiday with me and I just felt like it did nothing. I assumed it was one of those products that weren't actually that good and ignored it.
A few years on I have seen SO many people hype it up but again, they were all using the shade Sunny Flash and said it was a perfect glow. At this point I had started using products underneath my foundation to give a healthy glow and decided to buy the mini travel size version when By Terry did an offer on their website. I bought it in a set which was meant to be £22 but got it for £17 and I am so glad i did. Now I understand!! The colour can seem scary, with it being so dark it is better to be used if you have tanned but it gives the right amount of glow and colour to your skin. I'm hoping the travel size lasts a while but I use it either with a small amount of concealer for a minimal make up look or i use it underneath foundation for a glowy base.
Iconic Highlighter
I spoke about this in my last make up favourites post which you can read about here. But basically this is just an all rounder! A base for foundation, highligher for both the face & body and im sure wearing it on holiday without any other make up would look amazing! It’s the perfect amount of glow and compared to the cheaper alternatives out there, the consistency & durability of this product is just a million times better!
Anistasia Contour Kit
I managed to find this in a TKMAXX beauty section last year for only £24.99!! But normally its a lot more however, its the best contour kit I’ve ever used! All the shades are great, the colour pay off is fab and the colours are great for my skin tone! Not too orange or grey and the yellow powder is perfect for under the eyes! It was raved about for SO long and I completely understand why!
Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation
I had wanted to find a full coverage foundation that I could use for nights out and that was just flawless. My friend who is an MUA and used it said it was her favourite full coverage so I thought I’d go for it. And it is the best full coverage foundation I’ve ever used! You only need a small amount and it goes a long way, it’s not thick that it goes on cakey & it just stays on my face all day / night without primer! I find applying it with a beauty blender is the best way! It also smells amazing!
Tarte Concealer
Again I spoke about this product in my last make up post. But basically, it is full coverage, not cakey & the best under eye concealer I’ve ever tried! I also sometimes mix this with the iconic highlighter for subtle coverage! It doesn’t crease under the eye and it also works really well as a base for eyeshadow when doing heavy eye make up!
Is there a product you have spent a lot on but think it’s worth every penny? Maybe a skin care product that’s your holy grail? Let me know!!
I find sometimes, some beauty influencers rave about some make up and skincare products because of the brand and I just don’t get the ’hype’. Or maybe it just doesn’t work the same for me!
I hope you liked this slightly different post!
Let me know if you agree with the products I’ve spoken about or disagree!
Until next time,
Chloe! Xx
